What the advert says — nothing invented

From five tabs to one list.

Every morning the hours of scrolling are already done. You open one screen and chase only the cars worth the drive.

  1. 01

    Gather

Private-seller adverts from Auto Trader, Gumtree and Facebook Marketplace, collected once a day, before you're on the forecourt.

  2. 02

    Match

The same car on two sites, or re-posted at a new price, becomes one car — joined by its plate, with every advert and price change kept.

  3. 03

    Check

MOT history and mileage for every plate we can read. Write-off category and condition exactly as the advert or site states them.

  4. 04

    Rate

One colour, on value only: the asking price against similar private adverts. You see the working, then you decide.

The value rating

One colour. Value only.

No black-box score out of 100. Each car's price is set against the live average of similar private adverts — and the working is always on show. Issues like a stated Cat N or spares-or-repairs sit beside the colour as flags. They never change it.

Not enough similar cars

Grey — we'd rather say nothing than guess.

We read.
We don't guess.

No seller verdicts

The site's own label stands. We quote the seller's words — we don't decide who's a trader.

No scam scores

Hunches dressed up as numbers send you chasing the wrong cars. We leave them out.

No invented damage

If the advert says Cat S, you see Cat S. If it says nothing, neither do we.

Questions

Straight answers.

Where do the cars come from?+

Private-seller adverts on Auto Trader, Gumtree and Facebook Marketplace, gathered once a day so a fresh list is ready each morning. More sites will follow.

How is the value rating worked out?+

Each car's asking price is compared with the average of similar private adverts in our pool — same make and model, year within one, similar mileage, fuel and gearbox — over the last 60 days. The number of adverts behind the average is always shown. Too few similar cars and the rating stays grey.

Do you tell me if a car is a write-off?+

We show the category when the advert or the site states it — "Cat N, seller says" — alongside the MOT history. We never guess a category the advert doesn't give.

Do you judge whether the seller is genuine?+

No. We show what the site labels the seller and what the seller writes, quoted. Scoring sellers is guesswork, and guesswork costs you money.

Can private buyers sign up?+

No. Motorwatchr is built for motor traders and priced as a business tool.
